Pattern Competition, Saturday 17th June.

Breaking News:

Michael Rutledge and Peter Allen stun the field and advance to next class.

Launceston Model Aero. Club hosted the pattern competition held last Saturday.  It is the first competition that the club has hosted since losing their height ceiling after moving their strip.  It is nice to be back at Symmonds Plains once again.

note the fog and cloud in the background.
Same mob as normal travelled up for the event, Tony Gray, Michael Rutledge, Peter Allen, William Deal and Tony Sheppard.  After a briefing, coffee and breakfast at Campbelltown we arrived at the field shortly before 9.00am.  Fog and low cloud delayed the start of the competition until about 10.00am.
Tony Sheppard readying his Fantasista for its' maiden competition.

Tony Sheppard was first to fly at 9.30 but had to give it away as his new Fantasista SP disapeared into the cloud on the trim run.  A break in the cloud appeared about 10.00am and the comp was away.

(PA flew his Venus in this comp).

Despite the late start and some very average weather in the afternoon all classes managed to finish three rounds.

A great turn up, 13 starters on the day.  6 in Sportsman, 1 in F3A, 3 in both expert and advanced.

Mike once again blitzed the field in Sportsmans class.  He was closely followed by Steve Barrow (NWA) and Peter Allen.  Bringing up the rear were Dave Cook (PFL), Tony Gray and Tony Sheppard.

Mike, Steve and Peter all got a promotion point.  Mike and Peter move up a class.  Steve has one more point to to get before he gets promoted.  Dave has a point.  Alas the two Tonys are pointless. However if all goes to plan Tony G and Tony S will be the only competitors in Sportsman class for the Tasmanian Championships to be held in November.  Podium finish for the two of us Tony!
