Pattern Event Phoenix Flyers of Launceston 23d April, 2016.

The field with Matt's wind taking pride of place in the centre.
Proceedings commenced on a sombre note with CD Andrew McEntyre calling all together to observe a minute’s silence to reflect on the life of our talented aerobatic pilot mate, Mathew Box, who recently passed away in such tragic circumstances.

RIP Matt, you will be missed.

A tribute flight with Matt’s Wind S model was made in the final round of Expert by Steve Reece…….thank you Steve.
..............

The weather man, Andrew McEntyre.

A CD who can not only organise the event but also the “weather” will never be out of a job! Andrew, you are definitely “The Man”

The Roaring Forties Aeromodellers were represented by Mike Rutledge, Peter Allen & Tony Sheppard all competing in Sportsman class.

Tony Gray missed the event as he was holidaying in New Zealand (poor effort really!) Jack & Colleen also came along and supported the troops (Thanks for the coffee Colleen!)

Is that a pattern model Mike?

From the outset it was obvious that all RFAM pilots had improved considerably and the scores reflected this. Steve Barrow retained his spot at the top of Sportsman with a top scoring final flight just edging PA’s YS powered Venus 2 who finished in a well deserved 2nd place.

Peter Allen with his Venus 2.

Mike R & Tony S finished very close behind in 3rd and 4th place respectively. Mike’s Extra 300 was consistent all day and Tony’s new Mythos Pro flew very well, especially as it was a first event. The gap is closing and I can see promotion points not too far away.

Terry with his Kryptonite

The Advanced and Expert classes had several regular flyers absent, however the flying was the usual excellent standard. Terry Pearson topped Advance with his Kryptonite model with CD Andrew in 2nd place. Nice work Terry, we understand a new “Vanquish” electric model is not far away!

One again the two Steve’s (Reece & Cochrane) competed in Expert with usual precision, Steve Reece once again taking the win.

Scott Kay always impresses in the F3A.class. A lone competitor in the class but always produces “the goods”

Special thanks to CD Andrew McEntyre, Darrel for the BBQ, Tina for the scores and of course the Judges.

Terry, Mike, Jack and Tony.
The Roaring Forties models.

Steve Barrow, the man to beat.
