IMAC Event - RFAM 7th May 2016

The field for the day less Tony G. who was arranging lunch.
The Roaring Forties hosted an IMAC competition at their Pontville field on Saturday 7th May.  Although the clouds were threatening rain all day we managed to get through 3 rounds of both Sportsman and Basic.

Dave Cook took out first in Basic.

Peter, Tony S and Jack in the pits.
Kevin with caller Merv warming up.

There were 10 competitors on the day, two in Sportsman and 8 in Basic. Ben Goode (PFL) and Kevin Hay (LMAC) in Sportsman.
Andrew McIntyre and his Sebart Miss Wind.

In Basic The Roaring Forties were represented by Gavin Halam, Tony Gray, Michael Rutledge, Peter Allen and Tony Sheppard, David Cook and Andrew McIntyre represented The Phoenix Flyers while Terry Pearson represented Launceston Model Aero Club.

Despite at least a couple of zeros Ben Goode managed a first in Sportsman with some very impressive flying.  Kevin Hay came a very close second.  A great effort as he  had to hand over the judging chair a few minutes before his first flight so he could study the schedule for the first time.

The improvement in the standard of flying in the Basic class is staggering.  The old hands are no longer getting the zeros that they used to get and I am sure we will see a few competing in the Sportsman class in the near future.

Peter Allen, 2nd in Basic.
Dave Cook, 1st Basic

David Cook took out first in Basic flying his petrol powered SBach, Peter Allen 2nd and Terry Pearson third.  There were not many points separating the first 5 competitors and there are a few of us working very hard to get a podium finish next time.

As always a big thank you to the ladies for am amazing barbeque.  Our lunches always seem to be the envy of visiting clubs.  We are indeed very fortunate.

Ben and Mel.
Ben once again organized the event and Mel collated the scores.  Mel also did some judging.  Thank you Ben and Mel, your hard work is very much appreciated.
