The Roaring Forties Aeromodellers attended the Aerobatic Pattern
Competition at Phoenix Flyers Launceston Club on Saturday 12th
September with Mike Rutledge, Tony Gray & Tony Sheppard competing and Peter
Allen & Will Deal supporting.

Competing in the Sportsman class bad luck struck both
“Tony’s” each damaging landing gear on their first flights. Tony G had a backup
model but Tony S’s day was over after his engine cut during the pattern and a
heavy landing followed.

Mike flew his electric Airoso model and although the smaller model was
somewhat disadvantaged in the wind Mike finished a commendable 3rd
place just 6 points in front of Tony G.

Top Gun in Sportsman was Matt Box (PFL) followed by Ben Goode (PFL) Matt has now qualified for the Advanced class – well done Matt!

The Advanced class saw Steve Cochrane victorious and a friendly tussle for
2nd place between Terry Pearson (LMAC) and Kevin Hay (LMAC) finishing
with Kevin just one solitary point in front!

Scott Kay & Steve Reece both showed their class in F3A & Expert and
hopefully some of the lads will step up soon and give them a bit of a shake up!
