Tasmanian Pattern. 12th September, 2015.

Andrew briefing the competitors.

The Roaring Forties Aeromodellers attended the Aerobatic Pattern Competition at Phoenix Flyers Launceston Club on Saturday 12th September with Mike Rutledge, Tony Gray & Tony Sheppard competing and Peter Allen & Will Deal supporting.

Mike with his Airoso

Competing in the Sportsman class bad luck struck both “Tony’s” each damaging landing gear on their first flights. Tony G had a backup model but Tony S’s day was over after his engine cut during the pattern and a heavy landing followed.

Tony Gray's damaged Esprit with his back up Wind 50.

Mike flew his electric Airoso model and although the smaller model was somewhat disadvantaged in the wind Mike finished a commendable 3rd place just 6 points in front of Tony G.

Matt and Ben prepare Matt's model.
Tony S's doomed Monologue behind.

Top Gun in Sportsman was Matt Box (PFL) followed by Ben Goode (PFL) Matt has now qualified for the Advanced class – well done Matt!

Kevin Hay from LMAC just ahead of
Terry Pearson in Advanced

The Advanced class saw Steve Cochrane victorious and a friendly tussle for 2nd place between Terry Pearson (LMAC) and Kevin Hay (LMAC) finishing with Kevin just one solitary point in front!

Scott Kay with his composite Valiant.  YS Power.

Scott Kay & Steve Reece both showed their class in F3A & Expert and hopefully some of the lads will step up soon and give them a bit of a shake up!

Some of the judges.
(Do they know what they are doing?)

Special thanks to Andrew McEntyre, the ladies and of course the Judges for running an excellent event which was enjoyed by all.

End of a very enjoyable day.
The next event will be the 3rd IMAC at Roaring Forties on 17th October.

Thanks to Will Deal for photos and text.
